A SATURDAY NIGHT SNACK RECIPE FOR YOU

Chef Hugo is developing a new spicy walnut snack recipe. This delicious, newly minted recipe is sweet, spicy and high in fiber. Give it a try and let us know what you think! Happy weekend!


Hugo's Spicy Walnut and Almond Snack

12 cups bran flakes cereal (or use whole grain Chex type cereal)
2 cups walnuts
1/2 cup almonds
1/2 cup organic honey
4 TB water
2 egg whites
1/4 cup chili powder
3 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
salt and white pepper to taste


1. Preheat oven to 325 F.

2. In a large bowl, combine brain flakes, walnuts and almonds. In medium bowl, place egg whites, honey, water, chili powder, cilantro, salt, and white pepper. Whisk egg mixture until thoroughly combined.

3. Pour contents of medium bowl over walnut almond and brans flakes. Gently toss mixture until generously coated.

4. Transfer mixture to large baking pan and bake for 20 to 22 minutes, stirring twice during bake time.

5. Allow mixture to cool. Store at room temperature in airtight container.
